Question: After many years, my sister finally got a child. When the child is asleep, she puts the Qur’ân next to it – so that the child be protected from the evil eye, people and jinns.
Answer: There is no basis for that. Qur’ân shouldn’t be used as an amulet against Satan and diseases. Qur’ân must be honored and cherished. It shouldn’t be treated that way. It shouldn’t be put next to a child, a sick person – or the one who is sleeping. There is no basis for that.
