Imâm Sâlih bin Fawzân al-Fawzân
Question: There are patisseries that bake sweets and cookies in the form of sculptures and they are for children or others. People buy and eat them. They will not remain. Is that allowed?
Answer: Images are not allowed. These are sculptures. It is not allowed to image. That is not allowed, regardless of what they are made of:
“Allâh’s curse rests upon image-makers.”
The hadeeth is authentic. The Messenger ﷺ also said:
إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُصَوِّرُونَ
“The people who will receive the severest punishment on Judgment Day will be the image-makers.” (al-Bukhâree 5950)
Images are not allowed for adults nor children, not as sweets nor anything else.
